The Interdependent 3rd Party has not been a party for a long time. It has had no leadership, no contact person and no committee at the state or local level for years. Basically, it hasn’t been a party and has been a group of independents. The NAIP noticed that the Interdependent 3rd party had no leadership and thus NAIP members enrolled and took control.
There is no connection between the American Independent Party and the Interdependent 3rd Party. As there is no connection between the New American Independent Party (that’s us) and the American Independent Party. The Interdependent 3rd party has never been an ultra-conservative party.
The fact that state employees register folks in these two different parties is not a surprise. Many states do this sort of thing. Most folks do not know the difference between being independent and an independent party. Sometimes there isn’t much of a difference and other times the difference is large.

There is a short, negative, editorial mentioning the Interdependent Party’s registration growth here:

, from February 2, 2008. Basically it critiques the Registry of Motor Vehicles for enrolling ‘independents’ in the Interdependent Party.
